Schiphol opens temporary departure hal

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has opened a new temporary departure hall in response to a growing number of passengers travelling to Schengen destinations. Built to serve approximately two million passengers each year, the hall offers airlines space for check-in and security. Next to six security lanes, the Scarabee Aviation Group also placed 22 Safe-Security Check-in Doors (SSCD) at the check-in desks.

Royal Schiphol Group president and CEO Jos Nijhuis said: “I am enormously proud of the fact that we have completed this departure hall in a little more than six months.

It is planned that the Temporary Departure Hall will remain in service until the end of 2019 when, once the period of use comes to an end, it can simply be dismantled and re-used. The security filters can also be used at other locations later.
