As an important member of the Service and Maintenance team, you help contribute to the safety and passenger experience at airports around the world. With your service-oriented technical mindset and entrepreneurial approach, providing optimal support and advice to our clients is a piece of cake for you.
Working hours:
At Schiphol, you will work in a 5-shift schedule, rotating through morning, afternoon, and night shifts to support our 24/7 operations. This means varied working hours, sufficient rest days, and an attractive shift allowance.
Your role as a Field Service Technician
Are you the technician who ensures the smooth operation of our security lanes and self-service Bag Drops? As part of our technical team, you contribute daily to the safety and airport experience of passengers at Schiphol. Because Schiphol Airport is always in motion, your day will be as well. The service team consists of approximately 20 employees who provide 24/7 preventive and corrective maintenance of essential security systems at Schiphol Airport. In addition to scheduled preventive maintenance, you will also be responsible for promptly identifying and addressing ad-hoc malfunctions. You will work in a team with colleagues who mostly have mechanical or electrical backgrounds. You will report to the supervisors and work closely with your colleagues, our warehouse in Hoofddorp, and the service desk.
What will you do?
With enthusiasm, you will take charge of machines during malfunctions or regular periodic maintenance. You will be jointly responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of our products at our customers’ sites. As a knowledge bearer, you will also be the point of contact for project and site managers.
As an expert, you will solve any problems that may arise during maintenance. After a malfunction, maintenance, or repair, you will ensure a proper handover and administrative transfer. We are looking for you because you are enthusiastic, have experience in machinery construction, want to work in a dynamic environment like Schiphol, and do not mind working irregular shifts.
As a Field Service Technician, you will be involved in:
- Maintaining the machines;
- Performing I/O checks;
- Adjusting various machine components;
- Preparing malfunction and maintenance reports;
- Reporting on completed tasks and any special considerations.
Who you are and what you bring
You have excellent technical insight, a goal-oriented and results-driven approach, and a keen eye for quality and effectiveness. Additionally, you enjoy surprising the team, clients, and colleagues with your initiative, technical knowledge, and proactive approach.
What else do you bring?
- You possess MBO work and thinking level, complemented by a completed MBO level 3-4 education in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering;
- A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience in machinery construction or the high-tech industry;
- Taking on projects independently or as part of a team is second nature to you;
- You have experience working with high-quality products;
- Knowledge of PLC systems and configuration of electrical components is a plus;
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics;
- NEN3140 Qualified Person (VP), VCA certified, or willing to obtain this necessary qualification at the start;
- Excellent command of the Dutch language in both spoken and written form;
- Good command of the English language in both spoken and written form is a plus;
- Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
