Operational Buyer

Scarabee develops innovative systems such as security filters, passenger flow systems, and baggage handling systems for leading airports worldwide.

As an Operational Buyer at Scarabee, you will be responsible for the purchasing process and managing supplier relationships. You will support the team by ensuring that all required materials and services are available on time and under the best conditions. We are looking for team players to support our team from our headquarters in Hoofddorp.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the administrative purchasing process.
  • Actively participate in the purchasing process and identify market opportunities.
  • Coordinate with involved departments and suppliers.
  • Proactively monitor the progress of deliveries.
  • Address issues as necessary to resolve them.
  • Report to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Work in a small, close-knit team with enthusiasm to achieve optimal results.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage the entire purchasing cycle, from identifying needs to receiving goods.
  • Handle the full administrative processing of the PO flow.
  • Issue calls under existing contracts.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a preferred supplier base.
  • Manage the inventory of items.
  • Request and assess quotes.
  • Translate project needs into purchase orders.
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding deliveries.
  • Discuss quality requirements and technical specifications with internal requesters.
  • Continuously improve purchasing processes.
  • Collaborate with staff from the Logistics, Engineering, and Projects departments.

Who are you?

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Preferably, you have 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in a technical environment (we also welcome recent graduates with the right potential and interest).
  • You have experience in technical procurement and purchasing.
  • You have an affinity for technology.
  • You are fluent in both Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • You have advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Excel.
  • You take pride in creating and maintaining an organized and up-to-date administration.
  • You have experience with process improvement.
  • A Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CIPS, APICS, or NEVI 1 are a plus.
